Lesson 5: Graphing Linear Functions

Use slope-intercept form to generate graph points.

For a line in slope-intercept form, slope controls steepness and direction, while the intercept sets where the line crosses the y-axis.

Key formula

y=mx+by=mx+b

Worked example

y=2x−2,  x=3⇒y=4y=2x-2,\;x=3\Rightarrow y=4

Checkpoint

If y=−2x+2, find y at x=−4\text{If }y=-2x+2\text{, find }y\text{ at }x=-4
