Clear denominators and solve accurately.

Rational equations simplify when denominators are cleared. Multiply both sides by the least common denominator before isolating the variable.

x+pq=r⇒x=qr−p\frac{x+p}{q}=r\Rightarrow x=qr-p

Worked example

x−35=5⇒x=28\frac{x-3}{5}=5\Rightarrow x=28
